Local acts are gaining online recognition this week, a testament to the artists’ hard work and exciting news for the D.I.Y.ers of the Charleston music scene.

Indie-pop songwriter and Hearts & Plugs artist Grace Joyner hit over 100,000 streams on Spotify with her song “Dreams.” The tune, off of her new album “Maybe Sometimes- in C,” is laden with soft organs and synths, laying out a near-jazzy vibe with purposeful work on the snare and hi-hat, complemented by cool vocals that create an atmosphere not unlike a hyper-contemplative Fleetwood Mac cut.

Also celebrating over 100,000 Spotify streams is alt-rock, psych-pop quartet Beach Tiger with their newest single “Companion.” The song brings to mind the sob-pop synth anthems of the 80s while still managing to infuse the pop energy of today, almost reminiscent of Neon Indian at points but cut with a dose of unmistakably indie-rock guitar tones.

Check out the Joyner and Beach Tiger tracks on Spotify to keep boosting those streams. Both tracks are also available for download on iTunes and Bandcamp.
