On Aug. 29 the RiverDogs invited the sons of slain Virginia’s restaurant chef Shane Whiddon to throw the first pitch of the game. Now Joe Riley Stadium will honor the chef and his family again with Shane’s Sunday Sitdown Supper.

On Sun. Oct. 8, the public is invited to pack a picnic or purchase one of the stadium vendors, and gather to break bread and remember the chef who was shot by a disgruntled employee of the restaurant.

Stoplight Observations, Lauren Hall, and the Michael Martin Band will provide music and 100 percent from ticket revenue ($20 in advance, $35 at the door) will be donated to the Shane’s Memorial Fund to pay for his sons’ college.

In addition, the stadium will have a full bar open for beverage purchases as well as a special childrens’ play area.
