Hotel Bennett overlooks Marion Square | Provided

Downtown Charleston luxury resort Hotel Bennett and its Camellias Champagne bar were both named to USA Today’s 10Best 2021 Hotels Readers’ Choice Awards, the King Street hotel announced Friday in a press release. The Wentworth Mansion’s Circa 1886 was also recognized in the “Best Hotel Restaurant” category, earning the No. 4 spot.

Hotel Bennett was named the No. 1 luxury hotel in the country, besting resorts like The Ritz-Carlton Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii and the Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, while Camellias was ranked No. 4 in the “Best Hotel Bar” category one spot behind The Bar at The Spectator Hotel on State Street downtown.

“We are honored to be selected as the best of the best in the respected USA Today 10Best readers’ polls,” said general manager Marty Wall of Hotel Bennett, which opened in January 2019. “To be recognized by USA Today’s trusted team of local travel experts and receive validation from its readers is incredibly rewarding, and a testament to our dedicated team who strive to provide impeccable service to our guests every day.”

An initial list of 10Best nominees is chosen by a combination of editors from USA Today, and other “relevant expert contributors.” Voting for the 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards takes place online — currently, folks can vote High Wire Distilling into the top ten in the “Best Craft Whiskey Distillery” category.
