U.S. Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., will tie the knot in early August with his fiancee, Charleston interior designer Mindy Noce. That’s just a few weeks after the July Republican National Convention.

Scott made their relationship public in November on the presidential debate stage and proposed to Noce in January, days before the New Hampshire primary election on Kiawah Island. The couple plan to have their wedding in South Carolina, a Scott spokesman said Thursday

The wedding is scheduled during a season when much of the country will be on vacation or distracted by the Summer Olympics. Meanwhile in politics, both of America’s parties will be trying to ramp up excitement for the November election. Democrats will have their nominating convention in Chicago from Aug. 19-22, about a month after Republicans gather in Milwaukee from July 15-18.

Scott has been rumored as the top vice presidential pick for former President Donald Trump, according to media reports.

CP OPINION: Redevelop Union Pier at scale. “This value has long been part of our Charleston Checklist of community objectives. Why? Because up to this point, the land has essentially been public land — first owned by the city, which turned it over to the S.C. State Ports Authority to use for ports. The city then released the SPA from that obligation and allowed it to determine the land’s future. But there’s always been a sense that it has been “our pier,” a future resource to share somehow. “
