Reports taken from Sept. 13 to Sept. 20
Fashion statement
A Mount Pleasant man on Sept. 20 told town police that while he was pumping gas at a Park Avenue Boulevard gas station, he watched an “older” man wearing only a white T-shirt step out of his truck, pump his gas and then get back in his car. Another witness told officers that the old man was actually wearing a black thong as well — it just didn’t cover anything. No charges were filed at the time.
Squeaky clean
North Charleston police are investigating a Sept. 19 shoplifting incident after a manager at a Rivers Avenue department store reported a middle-aged man taking a can of Clorox spray, a bottle of lavender-scented cleaning spray, a mold of mold spray and a bottle of Pine Sol lemon cleaner. The total value of the cleaning supplies is about $25. All right, everyone, BOLO for someone who smells vaguely — but uncannily — fresh.
Bad timing
A Charleston police officer on Sept. 13 watched a man get out of an Uber while the officer was patrolling near the corner of King and Calhoun streets. The man stepped out onto the sidewalk clearly holding an alcoholic beverage, police said. The officer stopped the man and asked him to throw the drink away, but the man tried to chug it instead, which landed him an easy citation for the open container. We hope that White Claw was worth the trouble.
He didn’t know?
A North Charleston man on Sept. 20 reportedly crossed Ashley Phosphate Road near Northwoods Boulevard – a whopping 10 lanes of traffic – with no crosswalk or signal. Multiple vehicles had to slam on their brakes, according to a city police report. Officers arrived soon, and the man told police he “didn’t know” he wasn’t supposed to cross in the middle of the road. Well, we guess he does now.
