39 Rue de Jean

39 John St. Downtown.
(843) 722-8881

The bar at 39 Rue de Jean is lousy with class — from the traditional zinc-topped bar to the hardboiled eggs in a chrome rack. The mahogany and red-leather decor, the tables covered with sheets of white paper, and the thick angular water glasses all have the feel of a classic French brasserie. You can dine on mussels with pommes frites, have a champagne cocktail with bitters, and, if you squint your eyes just right, you’ll completely forget that you’re sitting in the Western hemisphere.
