Knowing what day it is is important. This info can set our mood in the morning, decide what we do at work, and determine what we watch on TV at night. The days of the week are also pop-culture touchstones, especially when it comes to music. The Beatles famously forgot how many days were in a week with their smash hit “8 Days a Week” in which Lennon and McCartney declared their constant love for somebody. Later, Jermaine Dupri used the days of the week as a way to detail his profligate schedule of drinking and carousing in “Welcome to Atlanta.” But perhaps the most applicable tune for our purpose comes from the world of Happy Days. Who can forget the cloyingly optimistic theme song which burst forth at the start of each episode, reminding viewers that, in fact, every day is a happy day.
Of course, we all know that’s not the case. The workweek is depressing and vacant of hope. But while every day isn’t necessarily a happy day, every weekday has a happy hour and all of those accompanying drink and dining specials.
Happy hour is the lifeblood of a successful and stable nation. It keeps the masses liquored up during the week, so they’ll forget how angry and depressed they are about the economy.

Start your Monday workday recovery at Big John’s Tavern with $1.50 domestic drafts or, if you’re in a hurry to forget your problems, head to Brixx for $2.50 house liquor. If you’d like some sustenance along with your alcohol, all sushi rolls and selected sakes are half off at O-Ku. If you’re in the mood for something besides just beer and liquor, Gilligan’s also has $1 Bud Lights, and, if you’re in the mood for something besides just beer and liquor, Liberty Tap Room and Grill has $2.50 oyster shooters and $5 martinis.
Tuesday appears to be food day for happy hours around town. You’ve got three great (i.e. cheap) options to satisfy your after-work munchies: Joe Pasta has BOGO appetizers and $2 house liquors. Juanita Greenberg’s hands out $1.50 tacos along with half-priced chips and salsa and $1.50 PBR. And, last but not least, O’Brion’s Pub and Grille in I’On has half-priced burgers and $3 vodka. Or you can just keep things simple with a $4 large sake at Tasty Thai.
Wednesday’s hump day, and there’s plenty of specials around town to help you drag yourself over the midweek mountain. Buffalo South has $2 vodka and bourbon, and Yo Burrito has $1 PBR, Old Milwaukee, and Miller High Life. If you’re hungry, take your pick of appetizer specials. Manny’s Neighborhood Grille has half-off Mediterranean apps, plus two dozen wings for $8.99. Charelston Beer Works sells two-for-one appetizers, and Giuseppe’s Pizza and Pasta offers $4 appetizers to go along with their $2 well liquor.
It’s called Thirsty Thursday for a reason folks. George’s Sports Bar and Grill has four can beers for $7, $2.75 vodka, $5 Grand Marnier, and $4.75 Jagermeister. Over at Henry’s House, it’s $1 Bud Light, and Neil Jordan’s Steakhouse has $5 martinis and $3 margaritas. Don’t worry, though, we’ve still got your bar food fix with 2-for-1 select apps at Wild Wing’s bar and half-off the bar menu at Water’s Edge Cabana Bar. Plus, George’s also has 50 cent wings to go with the above drink specials.
That’s right, you made it. It’s Friday, so celebrate in style (and by in style we mean with a tasty beverage and lots of greasy food). The Back 9 Pub has $2 Bud Light, Amber Bock, and Yuengling pints, or you can stop by Gene’s Haufbrau for $1 PBR draft and Miller High Life. Once again, there’s half-priced grub. If you’re looking for something a little different, Social has some unique appetizers at three bucks each, and that’s paired with $3 drinks across the board. Tsunami in Mt. Pleasant always ends up packed on Friday nights, so get there early and enjoy $5 Jagerbombs, $1 PBR, $5 Grand Marnier and Jagermeister, $2 domestics, and $3 well liquor.
