Charleston County School District is asking parents to complete a 10-minute online survey about their experience with the schools. You can take it by clicking here.
An outside company, Florida-based Studer Education, is administering the poll, and the results are anonymous, so be as honest as you please. The poll will ask you which school your child attends and then ask you to respond to statements like “My family is treated with respect at this school” and “This school provides a safe environment for my child to learn” on a scale of “Strongly Agree” to “Strongly Disagree.”
The poll is part of the school district’s Charleston Achieving Excellence: Vision 2016 plan, which sets concrete goals for closing the achievement gap, increasing overall achievement, and raising the graduation rate. Last month, the S.C. Department of Education released its district report cards, giving Charleston County its first-ever overall Good rating and a growth rating of Excellent. However, the district did not meet its Adequate Yearly Progress goals under the No Child Left Behind Act, the average SAT score dropped 12 points, and Hispanic students had an on-time graduation rate of 45 percent.
The poll will be online through Friday, Dec. 16. About 2,500 parents have responded so far.
