Last November, City Paper contributor Chris Parker wrote a fine little story about Steel Rollers, an up-and-coming bluegrass band that was quickly making a name for themselves around these here parts. (The few tracks they’d put up online certainly made an impression on us. “Hoes Be Choosin'” in particular is a funny foot-stompin’ charmer.) So we’re pleased as punch to hear that Steel Rollers are set to hit the recording studio for their debut disc. According to guitarist, harmonica player, and singer Dallas Baker, the band plans to enter the studio on Feb. 23 for a week-long recording session. Baker says the title of the 10-song collection is still being debated, but it features traditionals as well as originals, including the Steel Rollers’ fave new song, “Grateful Allman Joy.” Nice. The band also plans to throw an album release party in March.
