You really do get by with a little help from your friends, and that’s the idea behind the upcoming Fish On Memorial Festival Honoring Chris West. West, known amongst his friends as Fish, died unexpectedly at the beginning of the year, and his loss shook the Charleston community. Now friends and family can honor him together this Sun. May 4 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Music Farm, where West once worked.

“It’s a celebration of Fish’s life, an event where family and friends can get together and remember the good times,” says close friend and organizer of the event Ford McCabe. “Music was an important part of his life.”

Bands scheduled to perform include Southern Flavor Bluegrass, Trick Knee, Brother Trouble, and Not So Serious. Entry is $20, and proceeds will benefit YoArt!, a charity that works with the Charleston County School District to teach children media arts and help them discover and develop their own creativity. Tickets can be purchased at the door or at musicfarm.com.
