It seems like only yesterday when Mayor Riley and Police Chief Greg Mullen were up in how-dare-they arms when they learned that the first episode of the Charleston-set CBS drama “Reckless” featured a member of the CPD handcuffing a paramour to a chain-link fence and screwing her brains out

Sadly, that was about the only buzz the show ever received. For one, we were deep into the first season of Charmaggedon, and, two, the show really wasn’t that good. (Psst … we do have A/C in Charleston.) Not long after its first season wrapped, the show was canceled.

However, “Reckless” recently landed on Netflix, and apparently it’s netted a rather rabid following, at least judging by this one fan letter we received today:

I don’t know where to start I am at my wits end trying to get RECKLESS back on the air I have seen 1000 people complain that CBS cancelled this wonderful show ..They didn’t get to see it when it was really on the air but went to Netflex and saw it and they are really troubled that CBS took it off the air …They have so many dumb shows on and cancelled this great show all the actors were terrific as well and the writers ..How can I get through to the pople in charge we want this series back .

Please I am begging you for help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This fan isn’t alone. In fact, over 1,600 folks have signed a petition urging CBS to renew the show. Here’s a taste of what they have to say:

This show is honestly the GREATEST series ever made. Sad to see such a beautiful production be gone. Its educational, fun, funny, serious, not to mention hot! This show is amazing all the way around!!

just found out it was cancelled.. was waiting for new episodes!! ALWAYS THE GOOD SHOWS GET CANCELLED……………UGH!! Tired of watching a new show for it to get cancelled!

I’m signing because I want the Reckless series to continue. I believe if it was was published to everyone it would have had more viewers and everyone would have loved it. This show could be as great as criminal minds or hawaii five o. We all love shows with crime and this show is one of those type of shows. I want it to continue because it was a show I loved very much and I can’t stand shows ending with a cliff hanger so please just continue it.

I’m signing because I am going into law and this show is inspiring and absolutely amazing!

I herby sign this petition to bring Reckless back because it is one of the only shows that I have an emotional connection to. This show not only kept me on the edge of my seat, but brought tears to my eyes when they hinted at the main character dying. This is one of the best shows EVER made. Bring it back. NOW.

What makes a show great has little to do with the story line and everything to do with the chemistry of the actors. Cam Gigandet and Anna Wood have that chemistry and it is a shame that this show has been cancelled without even giving it a chance. I only started watching it on Netflix a few days ago and I am sad that the story will not continue. I am invested in these characters and I would really like to see their relationship play out in further seasons. It is unfortunate that when a show is produced, there is no regard for the millions of viewers that tune in and watch intently. While they are becoming engrossed in the lives of these characters, the big wigs at the studios are only seeing numbers, not people. Apparently 4 million viewers does not impress them, how sad that that many people can not make an impact on the fate of a televised program, how many million people does it take to impress them? The blatant disregard for the viewers is what is hurting television, not the internet or netflix or illegal downloads. I believe that there should be a rule in the industry that states any and all shows should be given a 2 season minimum before being cancelled, two years is the right amount of time to determine if a show will bring in the viewership that is apparently demanded by the studio executives. I will thank you to consider this show for renewal.
