The Craft Beer All Star Showdown lets City Paper readers choose between two Charleston beers in our weeklong showdown. Check out the full bracket below. Today’s first match-up is Palmetto’s Home Front IPA vs. Coast’s HopArt.Voting for this match-up ends at 9 p.m. TODAY.

Homefront IPA by Palmetto Brewing
American IPA, 7.3% ABV

Hop-heads, this is a beer for you. Pop a bottle of Palmetto’s Homefront IPA and you’ll feel as if you’re drinking in the September hop harvest. A touch of caramel rounds out the flavor of this year-round brew. But even if you’re not a hop fan, most can get behind this beer as 100 percent of its proceeds go to Operation Homefront. The nonprofit assists military families with food, auto and home repair, vision care, travel and transportation, moving assistance, essential home items, and financial needs.

HopArt by COAST

American IPA, 7.7% ABV

Like your IPA with a touch of fruit? Then COAST’s HopArt is the ticket. The mauve-hued pour gives off sweet flavors of grapefruit and orange peel with a touch of melon in there too. The hop flavor — a combination of Cascade and Mt. Hood hops — is more subtle. The essence of pine emerges at the end. And there’s balanced bitterness, so that’s a plus.
