[image-1] Sometime soon, 430 Meeting St. will become the second restaurant for Xiao Bao Biscuit co-owners Joshua Walker and Joey Ryan. But, as they’ve said more than once, their new restaurant, named Tu, will not be an XBB 2.0.
First off, this new spot won’t serve an entirely Asian menu. Walker described the menu as “innovative and unrestrictive” on an episode of EffinBRadio back in November. He also added that Tu will serve “bold, balanced flavors” with the option of using the whole pantry — a.k.a. cheese and butter. [content-1]Now diners will have a chance to see what that means on Sun. July 30 when Walker and Ryan reveal more at a two seating Tu preview dinner held at XBB.
“We did XBB pop ups for a little over a year or so circa 2011-2012 before opening the restaurant. I really found that to be instrumental in helping shape what Xiao Bao became and since then we try to constantly rely on feedback to inform change going forward,” says Walker. “Being as it is important to cook for actual humans, rather than just yourself, we’re getting out of our kitchen and our own heads and hosting a preview dinner featuring four dishes from our new restaurant Tu. We will be offering beverage pairings for those dishes as well and are excited to share what we’ve been working on.”
Tickets are a shockingly low $15 for the four-course meal and you can select 6 p.m. or 8 p.m. for service. Wine and other beverages along with gratuity are not included.
