[image-1]It’s been nearly a year since Chef Nate Whiting and 492 parted ways. Whiting, who had been with the The Relish Group, owners of 492, since his time at Tristan (2010-14) helped conceptualize the ambitious renovation of 492 King St. from the crumbling Leon’s men’s clothing store into the shiny new restaurant. But guests’ love of the look of the space wasn’t necessarily matched by a love for the menu. 492 received critical reviews from both City Paper and Post & Courier. Whether or not that was the cause of the split, last September Relish Group announced that Whiting was being replaced by Two Boroughs Larder chef and owner Josh Keeler.
[content-1]In an email, Relish Group owner CEO Mark Hendley said, “We are immensely grateful for all of the hard work that Chef Whiting has done for 492 and The Relish Group, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Not a peep about those plans was heard from the Whiting until now.
Whiting has resurfaced at Italian spot Ristorante Juliet and is now overseeing both that kitchen in addition to owners Liz and Sinan Aktar’s Mt. Pleasant Collective Coffee Co.
“He’s been a part of our organization for about two weeks,” Liz confirmed this morning. “In fact, he’s in the kitchen right now.”
After a year hiatus, fans of the chef can once again taste his food at Ristorante Juilet for lunch and dinner, Tues.-Sun.
