Presidential candidate and former S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley told a packed town hall rally in Bluffton Monday that the nation didn’t need the chaos that follows the frontrunner, former President Donald Trump. She focused her remarks on inflation, education and national security.
“I agree with a lot of his policies, but the truth is, rightly or wrongly, chaos follows him,” Haley said to the 2,500 people who attended, the largest crowd of her primary campaign, according to the Associated Press. “We have too much division in this country, and too many threats around the world to be sitting in chaos once again.”
Haley, Trump’s former ambassador to the United Nations who currently lives on Kiawah Island with her husband, continued her 45-minute speech with a focus on national security, stating “the world is literally on fire,” and pledged to support U.S. allies in various wars, including Israel and Ukraine.
In recent polling, Haley was second among GOP candidates in South Carolina, trailing Trump by more than 30 percentage points.
